COVID-19 Crisis in India
For the past week, there have been over 300,000 new cases of COVID across India each day. The hospital infrastructure has been overwhelmed and many hospitals are overcrowded, running low on beds and critical supplies across most the country. Vaccines are in short supply and the vaccination drive has come to a standstill. Conditions are continuing to worsen and infection rates are not expected to subside for weeks to come.
Punchh Foundation is partnering with Give India - a trusted platform for connecting donors with NGO’s making a difference at the grassroots level. Every $ donated by employees, customers, and partners will be matched by the Punchh Foundation and all funds will support the two causes listed below. Punchh Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) Non Profit and all donations are tax deductible.
Feed the Hungry: Sending cooked food and grocery kits, one family at a time. Millions of daily wage earners stranded without jobs due to the COVID lockdown are finding it difficult to arrange food for themselves and their families. Donations will be made to charities that provide meals and non perishable groceries to the most vulnerable - migrant workers, the homeless, and underprivileged residents , who are waiting endlessly for normalcy to return. A $25 donation provides 2 meals a day for a family for 1 week. $7 can help a poor family with non perishable groceries like flour, rice, lentils for a week. You can help provide cooked meals and weekly ration kits to poor families struggling with the poverty the pandemic has created
Help low-income families affected by COVID-19: Each death to COVID is a tragedy that could have been avoided. With the vicious second wave of coronavirus wreaking havoc across India, the daily fatality rate is expected to rise in the coming weeks. For many heartbroken families, these numbers represent important, able, working members whose departure will also leave them financially bereft - especially so for those already struggling to make ends meet. As they adjust to their new reality and to try and ease the pain for the first few weeks, our partner GiveIndia will be initiating direct bank transfers to families of the deceased through their trusted NGO partners. Each bereaved family will receive a one-time humanitarian cash support of ₹30,000 (~$400) to help with living expenses. This will help bereaved urban families with monthly expenses for 2 months or cover 3 months of expenses for families living in rural areas. Join this mission to support grieving families at risk of falling further into poverty.
