Puddles and Waffles

Donation protected

This is Puddles and Waffles. They are the best ducks. They love people and want all of the snuggles and kisses. Since they were about 3-4 weeks old they have had Chronic Respiratory Disease. They have almost died several times. We have worked hard to give them the best duck lives possible because we didn’t know how long they would have. I have spent thousands of dollars on vet appointments, medications, treatments, nebulizers, etc. But they are fighters and against all odds they have survived. They are now 7 months old. However, their treatment is expensive and will be lifelong. They will never be able to just have a normal duck life because extreme heat and/or cold makes it hard for them to breathe. They currently sleep in my kitchen and they go outside during the day to play and hunt for bugs. During the very hot days they have to come inside in the air conditioning for breaks because they have so much scarring and damage to their lungs. I am running out of resources to pay for their medications/care because my husband has not been able to work since June and having ducks live in the kitchen of a small house isn’t something we can do forever. With a heavy heart I started looking to re-home them on a few Facebook groups. We love these ducks and it breaks my heart. But if they stop their medications they start to decline.  I received several suggestions to start a GoFundMe so we could keep these little ladies. I take my responsibility to them very seriously and we would love to keep them. I have absolutely no idea what to expect with this. But we are going to give it a try because these two chuckleheads deserve the absolute best lives they possibly can. In order for us to be able to keep them I need help. I need funds to keep their medications and treatment/ vet visits going for several months while my husband gets back on his feet. Additionally, I need a small climate controlled building so they can live safely and happily OUT of my kitchen. This type of building will probably cost 4 to 5 thousand dollars, including a small heating/cooling system and predator proofing. But I think I can build it myself which will save some cost.

If you are able to help, please, please help. I have been told by several well meaning people ( even a veterinarian) that they are just ducks. That I shouldn’t be spending so much of my resources on them. “They are just 5$ ducks”.  But I believe that ALL life is precious. And as long asthese ladies are willing and able to fight, I won’t give up on them.

Thank you!
