This fundraising page is to help publish the book Jerry (My Dad) wrote before his death. His dying wish was to get his book, "Growing Up Alive", published.
Jerry's book is about his life that started in an extremely abusive house with 2 alcoholic parents. It is Jerry's story of his extraordinary journey of survival, rarely feeling safe as a small boy then as a runaway at 16, going through college discovering his sexuality, his discovery of his love for theatre and teaching and writing. The book is about his travels and relationships along the way. By his late 30s he meets his future wife and mother of his child and then in the final chapter the discovery that he needs to come full circle with his sexuality. Dear, sweet Jerry's life was an adventure and his partner (of over 20 years) and I want to honor that life lived by publishing his book.
The money raised will help with the expenses involved in getting the book published (travel expenses, publishing fees, etc). Any funds raised that aren't used will go towards helping fund a scholorship for a theatre/playwriting student (details on that will be figured out at a later date.)
