Disabled Combat Veterans (TBI&PTSD)

Donation protected
I am a Army Combat Veteran with multiple deployments, and  I have lost an unfortunate number of brothers both in combat and at home. Too many Veterans have trouble coping when they exit the military and reenter the “real world”. In having gone to therapy for a few years now, I have  met more brothers facing the same moral and ethical hurdels. Many of these men lose the battle inside themselves and it is happening at an alarming rate.

22 Veterans take their lives EACH DAY! If this level of depredation was occuring in any other professional field of work, something would have been done about it years ago. The VA hospitals in our great county have been failing our soldiers coming home, myself included.

My lack of sleep has caused countless nights of lying awake, trying to find new hobbies, new interest and new passions to pursue when it dawned on me...it’s time for me to stop being concerned about which programs, services and hospitals aren’t helping our vets and find my own way to help the brave men and women who so selflessly serve our country! I will be working towards reducing the number of Veterans who lose their life to suicide after they return from combat.

What Veterans miss the most is the feeling of being a part of something important. A mission, a unit, platoon, squad, team or just simple comradery! I would like to bring as many of us together for retreats that will include activities, such as kayaking, volleyball, softball, music, hiking, rock climbing, white water rafting, etc. Not only will this be a way for these men and women to take their minds off the struggles of coping with daily life, but I will also be able to provide them with information on services that I have found that have helped me tremendously along my long journey.

I feel that it is important to let Veterans know that it is okay and normal to be feeling the way that they do, and to help learn ways to deal with the issues we face now as the result of what occurred while in the service.

My long term goal is to start an organization where I can take disabled combat vets on out on a bi annual retreats to engage in hunting, fishing, and anything else that would be therapeutic for them.

So please help me help our nations Combat Veterans that have sacrificed so much of themselves so that our families can have their everyday freedoms.
