This GoFundMe account has been created to off-set the legal costs associated with challenging the unacceptable treatment of all Canadian physiotherapy residents – including internationally-trained physiotherapists awaiting licensing in Canada and all those who have previously failed the clinical component of the PCE and are currently not permitted to practice.
Never, in the history of our profession, have we felt so neglected and unsupported by our regulators and by the CAPR.
In an effort to advance the Canadian physiotherapy licensing process and to ensure the future viability of our profession, we have engaged legal counsel to advise us on our best legal options. The intention is to represent the interests of all affected physiotherapists, and to hold our regulators and the CAPR to account.
More specifically, these are the legal issues and options for which we need advice:
The possibility of obtaining compensation for: a) any and all financial loss incurred by candidates, as a consequence of the decisions of our regulators and the CAPR; and b) any and all financial loss incurred by clinic owners unable to fill vacancies due to this backlog.
The possibility of challenging the use of the PCE, given the serious questions about its reliability and validity.
Demanding candid and complete information on the connections (including any financial ties) between the provincial colleges and the CAPR.
