Help us upcycle local waste, globally!

Donation protected
Hi there!! We are Macarena and Francisco, designer and architect from Chile and the States, currently based in the Netherlands, and we're on a mission to significantly clean up the environment! Through our newly founded company "Waste Epiphany," we are seeking support to tackle landfill construction and demolition waste by turning it into high-end design products such as tables, benches, chairs, plant pots, lamps, countertops, wall tiles, floor tiles and others!

Currently, the construction and demolition industry is one of the largest waste producers globally. Apart from being very contaminating, within every building torn down, there is a story, a memory, a moment impregnated into its walls through time. At Waste Epiphany, we seek to reduce these negative environmental impacts by bringing back forgotten pasts through uniquely designed pieces and complementing present spaces through upcycling two of the most abundant waste materials in the industry: bricks and concrete. A sustainable and holistic approach in which these discarded materials are given a second life and new purpose.

With each product sold, more waste can be upcycled, cleaning up landfills and positively impacting the environment. Massive amounts of CO2 and raw materials can be saved up worldwide! Waste Epiphany has the ambition to clean up globally by acting locally. And we won't stop at construction and demolition waste - we want to tackle all types of waste and make something beautiful of them! Like this, we hope to someday clean up landfills in remote places where communities are most affected.

VISION - Close the loop on global waste through design.

MISSION - Design with local waste, globally.

AMBITION - Design with 1.000.000kg (2,200,000 lbs) of construction and demolition waste by 2030.

The materials and supplies we work with are bulky, very heavy, and hard as a rock. We have been lifting and crushing most of it on our own, and we already feel the repercussions. We would love to step up our game in terms of gear and tools to create a safer environment to work in.

We have come far, but it's still the beginning! Our work has gone up on many digital design magazines and other platforms throughout the past year! We won the Green Concept Award in Munich, Germany. We also exhibited our work at the Dutch Design Week in 2021, the Madrid Biennale of Design in 2021 and the Milan Design Week in 2022!
This year we've been selected to exhibit at the London Design Festival, the Venice Design Week and the Dutch Design Week again! These costs are (at this moment) challenging to pay for, but we know how important it is to use such platforms to showcase the idea and the work to gain more exposure and start creating a network of prospects and companies to work with!

Remember: Landfills are gold mines. There is so much potential in the waste we produce. Let's stop extracting raw material. Let's start using what we've already destroyed!

We hope you all can join in on our journey in cleaning up our big blue marble, brick by brick...literally!
