Whiskers is Sick

Donation protected

As you can see from the video on the first page, our Whiskers is sick. Cat Dad here.

Whiskers is an important part of our family. As pet owners, I am sure you know how special they are to us. Our sweet Whiskers is an extra special cat. She has saved my wife's life. When my wife collapsed in the bathroom behind a locked door, Whiskers alerted me to the trouble and helped us get my wife to safety. Now, if my wife is behind a closed door too long, she calls out until my wife let's her in or comes out. She is often found purring on our chests when we get sick. But it isn't just her humans she cares for.

Whiskers cares for her three feline brothers, making sure they stay clean and in line. When they arrived as kittens, Whisker took them under her paw and taught them the ropes. All four felines are rescues.

Whiskers lived on the streets where she delivered kittens that passed away. She was only 8 months old at the time. She was rescued by a local cat rescue organization and then found her way into our lives. When my wife went to pick a different feline up for adoption, that cat was no where to be found. Instead, sitting in the carrier of her own volition was Whiskers. She adopted us.

Whiskers is sick and needs an ultrasound to determine what is wrong. She stoicly curls up over heat sources, hunched in pain with a bloated belly. We have tried a number of treatments and medications with our amazing veterinarian guiding us through the last three months. Though Whiskers isn't protesting much, it is clear she isn't herself and is in pain.

With my wife unable to work due to aquired illness and disability and thanks to COVID conditions in our community, we're stretched extra thin.

The procedure costs $400 and though it's a small amount, we are struggling to make ends meet. I humbly reach out to you dear hearts. Should you find it in your ability to donate, Whiskers and our family would be eternally grateful.

We aren't sure what the diagnosis will be and will keep you updated. We are hoping for good news. We keep thinking about worse case scenarios, like organ failure as she is 13 now, though you would never guess by her shiny coat and youthful face. We are so afraid for her.

Your support is the light in the darkness during our struggles. We cannot thank you enough.
