Isaac Jesús Martínez Mejía, 19 years old, was electrocuted at his job and had to have all 4 limbs amputated. We're coming together to raise funds to get him prosthetics for both legs and arms and cover any costs that will arise in his process.

"My name is Isaac Jesús Martínez Mejía and I am 19 years old from Olanchito Yoro Honduras. Last year 2020 on October 8th, I suffered a 34,000 Volt discharge where I worked in a fiber optic company. That day I was in charge of an iron rod to lift an optical fiber cable when I accidentally touched the primary line and was electrocuted. My body was totally hard and immobile and my worst fear was that I was not prepared to die. That day my co-workers gave me first aid and I was transferred to the nearest hospital. Dr. Aníbal Murillo Escobar, treated me in the emergency room and told me that there was nothing that he could do since he was not prepared to treat a third degree burn. They then prepared me to go to San Pedro Sula where they received me as an emergency patient at the Mario Cata Hospital Rino Rivas, where I entered on October 8th. On October 9, it came to light that I needed a fasciotomy to see the level of burn in my body. Two doctors approached me and said the same thing, "we are not trained to treat you in this case," where I was then told I had to be moved to Tegucigalpa where there is a burn room. I entered the school hospital on October 10 where I was between life and death facing the most terrible situation in my life. I did not understand at the moment what was happening with my body. An orthopedist approached me and said “Good morning Isaac. I am the surgeon and I am going to take your case.” I was admitted for 8 days and I was given the news that they had to perform the first hard amputation on my left arm. It was sad where they could no longer do anything but amputate. Then had to do a Covid test on October 26 where it turned out that I was positive for the virus. It was the hardest day because with the combination of the burns and Covid, it was something that I had to hold on to. They then threw the strongest news and it was that they had to amputate my two legs as well. They amputated both of my legs and I was still positive with Covid; it was life or death at this point for me. The operation went well and I continued to have my right hand. I was isolated and I could not see my family or my friends in the room. I had never experienced anything to this magnitude in my life but my mind was to get ahead of these obstacles with only my right hand. Unfortunately on November 19 they broke the news that they also had to amputate my right hand as well. I didn’t think I could survive without limbs. I gathered any strength that I could find to continue in life and no matter the obstacles that arise, some days it is a smile and a victory and other days it is sadness and pain. But it does not matter, life goes on no matter what happens and I always smile and was strong even that day. I was free and out of danger and I could see my family. I left the hospital and am currently in a rehabilitation center in Teletón Tegucigalpa where I receive therapy for prosthetics. This is the moment where I am asking for your help so that you can help me purchase prosthetics. I know that together with you I will achieve my dreams and my goals. "Mi nombre es Isaac Jesús Martínez Mejía. Tengo 19 años soy de Olanchito Yoro Honduras el año pasado 2020 el 8 de octubre sufrí una descarga de 34,000 Voltio donde trabajaba en una empresa fibra óptica resulta que ese día y los días anteriores andaba encargado de una vara de hierro de 5 m con esa vara Yo me encargaba de levantar la fibra óptica donde accidentalmente toqué la línea primaria Con la vara en ese instante mi cuerpo quedó totalmente duro inmóvil donde en ese momento fallece mi peor miedo y temor era que no tenía o que no estaba preparado para morir ese día resulta que ese día están mis compañeros de trabajo me dieron los primeros auxilios donde fui trasladado al hospital más cercano el doctor Aníbal Murillo Escobar donde me atendieron de emergencia en ese instante se me acerca una doctora y me dice tu caso no te lo puedo tratar yo tienes que tratartelo un especialista en quemaduras de tercer grado, entonces ese día me prepararon fui enviado a San Pedro Sula donde me recibieron de emergencia en el hospital Mario Catarino Rivas donde ingrese el 8 de octubre el 9 de octubre resulta que me hicieron fasciotomía para ver el nivel de quemadura en mi cuerpo luego se me acercaron dos doctores y me dijeron lo mismo NO estamos capacitado para atenderte en este caso luego me dijeron tenemos que trasladarte hacia Tegucigalpa donde ahí hay una sala de personas con quemaduras, ingresé el 10 de octubre en el hospital escuela Dónde estaba entre la vida y la muerte enfrentándome a mi situación más terrible en mi vida No entendí en el instante que estaba pasando con mi cuerpo luego se me acercó un ortopeda y me dijo Buenos días Isaac Yo soy el cirujano y le voy a llevar su caso me dejó ingresado a los 8 días después Qué es el 18 de octubre me dan la noticia que tienen que practicarme la primera amputadura en mi brazo izquierdo fue triste dónde ya no podían hacer nada todo lo tenía nicrotizado luego seguí enfrentándome en la vida dónde 26 de octubre me hacen la prueba de covid donde resultó Qué salgo positivo fue el día más duro porqué estar con quemaduras y con covid fue algo que tenía que aferrarme a lo que pasará luego me tiraron la noticia más fuerte que fue que tenian que amputarme mis dos pies fue el día que me puse a pensar qué pasaba luego entendí que la vida es más importante en todas las pruebas me amputaron mis dos pies el día que me lo amputaron todavía estaba positivo con covid era de vida o muerte la operación todo salió bien luego seguí Todavía tenía mi mano derecha estaba aislado no podía ver mi familia ni incluso mis amigos de la sala donde estaba fue algo duro que nunca había experimentado eso pero mi mente era salir adelante aunque sea con la mano derecha pero no fue así luego me dieron la noticia el 19 de noviembre donde me dijeron que tenía qué amputarme la mano derecha en ese rato pensé que no podría sobrevivir luego me propuse Y agarré fuerzas para seguir en esta vida y no importa los obstáculos que se te presente algunos días es de sonrisa y de Victoria y algo otro días es de tristeza y de dolor pero no importa la vida sigue no importa lo que pase siempre sonríe hice fuerte incluso ese día no terminaba me faltaba la última operación donde ya había vencido el covid-19 donde me alegre y dije voy para hacia adelante, luego me hicieron la última operación Qué es un injerto en el abdomen el recolector del injerto me lo hicieron en la pierna izquierda para rellenar el lado derecho del abdomen ya sabía que ya estaba libre y fuera de peligro luego pude ver a mi familia hasta que salí del hospital fue donde dije Estoy vivo aquí sólo queda seguir adelante estos tiempos que he salido del hospital estoy en centro de rehabilitación en Teletón Tegucigalpa donde recibo terapia para prótesis dónde En este momento estoy pidiendo ayuda a ustedes para que me puedan ayudar a comprarlas sé que juntos con ustedes voy a lograr mis sueños y mis metas Pero eso es con ustedes Espero que me ayuden para volver a caminar para volver a demostrarle al mundo que sí se puede espero su colaboración Este es mi historia y muchas gracias."
