Pacific Renaissance Plaza Art Beautification Project - Chinatown, Oakland CA

The intention of the PRP Art Beautification Project is to generate more public interest in the Plaza, the central core of Oakland’s Chinatown, as a destination for art, cultural, recreational, dining and business usage by people of all ages.

The first phase of the project was completed in January 2018 with the installation of an elegant quartzite top  on the circular fountain by Oakland's Canova Marble.

Mosaic artist Juan Lopez has created unique designs displaying the 12 Chinese Zodiac animals on three of the four planters surrounding the PRP fountain.   Currently, our plan is to commission Juan to install his zodiac animal designs on the fourth quadrant.  The interest generated from those who have seen the installed artwork thus far is overwhelmingly positive!

Thank you in advance for your interest in supporting the beautification of Pacific Renaissance Plaza with its distinctive public art by making a tax-deductible donation.  The Oakland Asian Cultural Center, located in the Plaza, is the project’s fiscal sponsor.

ANY amount donated will be appreciated.  Any questions about the project can be sent directly to the Project Coordinator, Sara R. Wynne, [email redacted].
