Provide No-Cost Facilitation For Plant Medicine

It’s no secret that we are facing a global mental health crisis. As of 2021, there were about 27 million people in the United States without health insurance. According to a recent Gallup poll, only 31% of Americans describe their mental health and emotional well-being as “excellent.” To further exacerbate the issue, western medicine has not fully realized the benefit of alternative ways to heal. In traditional antidepressant studies, only about half of the participants felt an improvement (source: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK361016/). Antidepressants also have a long list of side effects, including worsening depression and suicidality (source: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3353604/). At the very least, it could be said that antidepressants are a “band-aid.” If you or anyone you’ve known has tried to come off of an antidepressant, you know that it can be an awful, if not dangerous experience.

We are a group of therapists, healers, plant medicine facilitators, and sitters. On November 8th, 2022, Colorado voted to legalize the growing, possession, and use of plant medicine. It has been a bit like the wild west here ever since. Many people, including us, were trying to figure out a reasonable way to charge clients. Some of us make upwards of $100 an hour as professionals. Insurance will not cover plant medicine for at least a few years, and even then, it will be some synthesized pill or shot that big pharma will charge exorbitant amounts for. One day, we woke up and realized, that the only way we felt comfortable offering healing from plant medicine, was to offer it for FREE. Yes, absolutely no charge to the client.

We firmly believe that healing given to us by mother earth should not involve further distress to someone who is called to it. Money is clearly stressful to some.

That is why TheraPsych was started. We have created a model that offers non-traditional healing for zero cost to our clients. With that said, we do feel practitioners should have compensation for their time. All practitioners will receive the same hourly rate for their time and effort, without regard to education level or letters behind their names. All practitioners will be chosen by their level of compassion for others, their commitment to healing, and their experience with plant medicine.

There may be clients who can afford to donate to the cause, and that is completely voluntary. Every cent received will be put into the general fund and used in the same way your donation will be – for future healing!

We believe that plant medicine healing can be done WITHOUT having a discussion about cost. We believe also that funding plant medicine sessions can be accomplished by people and organizations who CAN afford to contribute to this kind of work, perhaps because they have benefitted, or because they see the value in it.

NOTE: Though plant medicine is now legal to grow, possess, and gift in Colorado, the sale is NOT legal! Clients are responsible for acquiring their own medicine, which is widely available from reputable growers. The cost of plant medicine sessions covered by this fundraiser is strictly for providing a safe and supportive space for clients.
