Proudly Fighting Cancer Like Laila Ali & Winning

Hello I’m Bernardine

My life changed in an instant when I was
diagnosed with Stage 4 Multiple Myeloma
almost 10 years ago in December of 2010. Overview Multiple myeloma is a cancer that forms in a type of white blood cell called a plasma cell. Plasma cells help you fight infections by making antibodies that recognize and attack germs. Multiple myeloma causes cancer cells to accumulate in the bone marrow, where they crowd out healthy blood cells. Rather than produce helpful antibodies, the cancer cells produce abnormal proteins that can cause complications.
The reason
I’m still here is because prayers are answered. There is no cure for this rare form of blood
cancer similar to Leukemia & Lymphoma.

I’ve been in treatments for the entire time
and I’ve achieved as close to remission for a
year or two with different combinations of
drugs. I’ve relapsed but I continue to fight.

I’ve healed from numerous pathological
breaks to my limbs and countless URI
infections.

The financial burdens currently are
overwhelming. The reason I’m asking for helpI can’t work. It’s hard to manage even with a Care Giver a routine of Treatment and all
that it encompasses. I’d like to
not have to worry about losing my home, not being able to afford co-payments on life
sustain drugs, eating nutritious foods, lights, gas, transportation.

I'm truly grateful for anything. A friend told
me she was proud of me in Jan 2019 for
fighting like Laila and I adopted her words as encouragement and set out to Win!

I’m Proudly Fighting Like Laila Ali & I am Winning.

I need a little help. I appreciate any and ever effort to support my fight.

Thank you.
