Proud Fathers is pleased to present the sponsorship proposal for the Sleep in the Gym Basketball Camp, an exciting program supporting children through exercise and teamwork.
Proud Fathers is a Los Angeles based 501c3 non-profit organization comprised of 7 professional men who are fathers at home and father figures in their communities. Our mission is to uplift the youth and develop their confidence through fitness, mentoring and spirituality. For this particular basketball camp, we are focusing on young men between the ages of 9-12. Proud Fathers has a very strong value system that includes education, integrity, respect, hard work & discipline. We believe that positive individuals breed positive environments and it is our duty to help transform what is currently present in society so that our youth can flourish.
The “Sleep in the Gym” concept is designed to convey the amount of dedication and focus necessary to become great at anything and to accomplish life’s goals.
Most of our youth basketball coaches, often, used the slogan, “To get better, we need to eat and sleep in the gym!” With that mentality, you put yourself in a much better position to win – the game and at life. Not only will we be conducting basketball activities during the day, we will also be spending the night in the gym on Friday and Saturday night to show our commitment to the process of getting better.
Camp participants will arrive at the facility on Friday evening at 6pm and will stay on the premises through Sunday at 3pm. All food will be provided during the camp’ s operation (breakfast, lunch, dinner & snacks). Upon the camp’s ending, we will have a buffet lunch banquet for all camp participants from 4pm-6pm at a location TBD. Required items for camp participants:
· Sleeping bag & pillow
· Toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrush, lotion, deodorant, soap)
· Towel/wash cloth
· Pajamas, etc.
· Shirt & tie for banquet
The Sleep in the Gym Basketball Camp will provide a fun, educational and confidence-building environment for its participants. In addition, the program will address the importance of self-awareness and resilience.
As an entry-level basketball program, no prior basketball experience is required. We invite beginner, advanced and physically challenged youth to participate. All equipment, camp uniforms and shoes will be provided.
To ensure our participants have a well-rounded experience, Proud Fathers has partnered with several professional individuals and state organizations, such as Sport Psychologists, NBA/College Players and Coaches, the Fire Department and Police Department to discuss varying topics that will benefit those in attendance, such as:
· Basketball fundamentals
· How to focus through fatigue
· Fitness and it’s importance to survival
· Community awareness
· Importance of Law Enforcement & building stronger relations in our communities
The Proud Fathers group are looking for “scholar athletes” from 4th grade - 7th grade to be part of this special camp. Students must write a 1-page essay on the topic “I Accept the Challenge”. Once your essay is submitted, those who are chosen will then need to provide a 1-page letter of recommendation from their school teacher.
To make the Sleep In the Gym Basketball Camp a complete success, we are seeking financial assistance through sponsorships to raise $20,000. These donations will help cover facility, equipment, staff, food, administrative & insurance expenses. By supporting the Sleep in the Gym Basketball Camp, you are making the statement that our youth matter and your investment only sets the stage for a brighter tomorrow.
