Protect Rescued Animals From Extreme Weather

It's HOT out—and it's only going to get hotter due to the climate crisis.

We are experiencing increasingly blistering temperatures in all three Gentle Barn locations.

The Gentle Barn is calling for an emergency plan of action as the heat puts all of our beloved animals, especially our seniors, at very high risk.

This is our largest fundraiser in years, as expenses have accumulated rapidly due to climate-based issues such as devastatingly long fire seasons, unsustainable hot summer temperatures, and extreme cold and flooding in the winters.

Fortunately, we have solutions to combat the effects of rising temperatures, but we must raise these funds immediately to protect our animals from blazing summers and freezing winters.

Our list is long, but will help us keep all of our 200 rescued animals happy, healthy, and thriving across all three locations amid a changing world:

-Heating and cooling systems

-Additional barn stalls

-Sand, straw, and shavings

-Tents for shade and specialty pools for the pigs

-Misting systems

-Shaders for the cow pastures

-Planted trees to provide more shade

-Sprinkler systems

-Annual haircuts for the sheep and llamas

-Water bowls for the chickens and turkeys to stand in

-Medicated bubble baths to combat “rain rot” on horses

Costs are high for these improvements and availability is low, meaning if we don't move quickly, our animals will suffer—and we can’t allow that.

The Gentle Barn was founded 23 years ago, which means we care for many senior animals who are extra sensitive to these extreme temperatures– with no relief in sight.

Our ask is hefty, but necessary.
