My name is Loai Hassnin. I’m a 26-year-old lawyer from Gaza, and this is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to write.

You might ask, is it the house broken, or me? Or both? I’m not sure, still pondering… still wandering through the ruins of my life.**

That wrecked shell you see is a ghost of what once was my home.

Walls that once sheltered our laughter now lean in silence, scarred by fire and shrapnel. The roof is torn, the windows are gone, and the floors groan under the weight of survival. It shouldn’t still be standing… but somehow, like my family and me, it refuses to fall completely.

**This pile of rubble** used to be the place I grew up in, laughed in, dreamed in. Now, it’s just dust and broken concrete. Like so many others here, I’ve lost everything. **This defiant ruin tells our story without words: of families displaced, of dreams shattered, of life interrupted by war — yet not erased. It stands as a symbol of what we’ve endured… and what we’re still fighting to come back from.**

But the fight is desperate. There’s no safety, no shelter, no income, no food. I’m not just trying to survive for myself — I’m trying to protect my family. Every day is a battle to stay alive, to find clean water, a bit of food, or even a moment without fear.
