We, Lainie and Miro, are the founders of the company Project World School . It is based on the belief that you can learn everything you need to know from the world around you; worldschooling.
Our intern and volunteer, Katie Mitchell, is learning about how to facilitate international retreats and learning communities like ours during her time with us. She is also learning about what goes into marketing a grassroots, passion-driven project like this.
Our mission is to spread the word and movement surrounding worldschooling. This was made easier when TEDx reached out and asked us to give a talk about worldschooling at the TEDxAmsterdam Education Conference in April. We are so excited; our talk will be the most envelope pushing, out of the box, informative talk about alternative education these teachers will ever hear!
Katie will be creating a video about the work and process of creating a Ted Talk, and will be blogging about it on the Project World School blog , as well as her own. You won't only be watching our talk on your computer at home, you'll also be watching and reading about the whole process that went into it!
Fortunately, TEDxAmsterdam has a fixed budget to fly their speakers out to the talks. Unfortunately, it is not big enough to fly 3 people from Lima, Peru (where we are right now) all the way to Amsterdam (where the talk is being held).
We are asking for donations to cover Katie's flight and all of our domestic travel costs. If you are interested in learning more about worldschooling, if you want to see the word spread about this unique form of education, or even just are feeling nice today, please donate to get us to TEDx!
