Feeding Homeless Animals in Venice

Déductible des impôts
Here's the story of Project Minnie...

Did you know that food stamps and other aid can't be used to buy pet food? For many homeless people, their only source of reliable companionship and love are their pets, but they struggle to feed them properly.

That's where Project Minnie comes in.

Project Minnie is an organization dedicated to helping feed homeless animals with homeless guardians. Project Minnie provides food, reusable water bowls, harnesses, leashes, collars and limited vet care to homeless animals with homeless guardians every weekend on the Venice Boardwalk in Los Angeles, CA. Project Minnie also provides sandwiches to the homeless every weekend.

It all started about five years ago with an animal lover named Amanda. Amanda started Project Minnie as a small way to give back to her community, running and largely funding Project Minnie out of her own pocket. The Venice Boardwalk community has lovingly come to know her as "the dog lady" and "the dog secretary."

Every weekend, rain or shine, Amanda could be found hauling her wagon along the boardwalk giving out bags of dog food, supplies, and sandwiches to the homeless (human and animal alike), asking for nothing in return except perhaps to spend a few happy moments with the animals she was working so hard to help. Over the years, Project Minnie grew to provide everything from dog food, leashes, harnesses and collars to flea medications, vaccinations, licensing assistance and vet care to toys, treats, and sweaters.

Five years later, Amanda decided it was time to take Project Minnie to the next level. She started recruiting volunteers to help expand Project Minnie to assist as many homeless animals and their homeless guardians as possible. A small but dedicated group of volunteers came together to try to help Project Minnie grow into everything it could be.

Still, Amanda is largely shouldering the burden of funding Project Minnie on her own. Keeping Project Minnie running includes everything from the food and supplies themselves, to licensing and veterinary costs, to rent for the storage space where Project Minnie keeps its supplies. Amanda, being the kind and generous person that she is, never wanted to ask for help... but the financial burden of Project Minnie is becoming more than she can shoulder on her own.

On behalf of the volunteers at Project Minnie, and the homeless pets and pet guardians that Project Minnie seeks to assist, we ask that you please consider making a small donation to this incredibly worthy cause. Even the smallest donation makes the biggest difference in the lives of these animals. $12,000 will keep Project Minnie running for an entire year, and because Project Minnie is 100% volunteer-based you can rest assured that your donation will go directly towards assisting these animals in need. In addition, because Project Minnie is a certified charity, your donation is 100% tax-deductible.
