Project Stitch

Tax deductible
As many of you know, I’ve been involved in charitable endeavors in Haiti for quite some time. The island and its people have always held a special place in my heart.

And the most special of all places has always been held by Project Stitch.

Project Stitch is a 501(c)(3) that provides training specifically to severely disabled Haitians to make their own apparel and accessories. A significant problem with Haiti’s economy is that money is contributed charitably rather than invested into the infrastructure and job creation. As a result, Haiti receives aid, but has been held back in its recovery due to a lack of self-sustainability.

~Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for life.~

Project Stitch uniquely solves this problem by accepting charitable contributions to operate its shop and training program annually, which trains students over two six-month training periods. Started in 2012, Project Stitch now has more than thirty graduates, six current students, and, maybe most importantly, nine financially independent graduates working in the work shop. Six more students are on a waiting list for a training period that was supposed to begin April, 2018.

But the contributions haven’t come in this year the way they need to. And now Project Stitch is in danger of having to close its doors for good if it cannot find its annual operating budget immediately.

Their average annual operating budget is only $35,000. It would be a shame to shut down such an amazing organization over such an easily attainable figure.

Please help me in urgently contributing to their survival. No amount of money is too big or too small. Keeping their doors open is the only way to allow disabled Haitians to not only continue with a viable and independent economic future, but continue with the pride, self-respect, and dignity that every human being inherently deserves.
