Esta página de GoFundMe ha sido creada por los familiares y amigos de MARGARITA AGOSTO. En Agosto de 2018, Margarita fue diagnosticada de cáncer de pancreas con metástasis en el hígado.
TRASFONDO:
Para aquellos que desconocen la historia, a finales de julio, Margarita se encontraba visitando a sus hijos y nieto en los EEUU, cuando comenzó a tener síntomas de malestar estomacal, reflujo, dolores abdominales y de espalda que le provocaron pérdida de apetito, pérdida de peso y noches de insomnia. Rápidamente regresó a Puerto Rico para visitar a sus médicos de cabecera y hacerse los respectivos laboratorios.
Inicialmente, todo parecía indicar que sus síntomas se debían a una piedra en la vesícula. Luego, un "CT Scan" reveló lesiones en el área del pancreas y el hígado, y Margarita fue referida a un gastroenterólogo. El mismo, ordenó más estudios, entre ellos un "estudio nuclear" y laboratorios adicionales. Como muchos saben, la demanda por servicios y atención médica en Puerto Rico ha aumentado mientras que la disponibilidad de los doctores ha disminuido debido a la emigración de muchos profesionales de la salud...en las últimas dos semanas del mes de agosto, tanto Margarita como sus familiares y seres queridos vivieron en carne propia la dificultad para conseguir citas con caracter de urgencia, coordinar estudios y la lentitud de los procesos de aprobación y gestoría, por lo que tomaron la difícil decisión de viajar de emergencia a la ciudad de Dallas, Texas para continuar estudios e iniciar tratamientos en el Centro Nacional de Cáncer Harold C. Simmons afiliados al Hospital UT Southwestern bajo la supervisión médica del Dr. Aravind Sanjeevaiah.
Su plan médico cubre sólo parte de sus gastos y es por esto que sus familiares, amigos y seres queridos han abierto una cuenta de banco a su nombre y recurrido a plataformas como "GoFundMe*" para apoyarla en la creación de un Fondo Especial que ayudarán a cubrir los altos costos de sus tratamientos durante estos momentos difíciles. This GoFundMe page has been created by the family and friends of MARGARITA AGOSTO.
In August 2018, Margarita was diagnosed with: pancreatic cancer with liver metastases.
BACKSTORY:
For those who don't know the story, by the end of July, Margarita was visiting her two sons, daughter and grandson in the US, when she began to have symptoms of stomach upset, reflux, abdominal and back pain that caused loss of appetite, weight-loss and insomnia. She quickly returned to Puerto Rico to visit his primary doctors and perform the respective laboratories.
Initially, everything seemed to indicate that her symptoms were due to a stone in the gallbladder. Then, a "CT Scan" revealed lesions in the area of the pancreas and the liver, therefore Margarita was referred to a gastroenterologist. He ordered more studies, including a "nuclear study" and additional laboratories. As many may know, the demand for services and medical attention in Puerto Rico has increased while the availability of doctors has decreased due to the emigration of many health professionals...in the last two weeks of the month of August, Margarita and her loved ones experienced the struggle and the difficulties to schedule appointments, studies with urgency and the slowness of the approval processes, so they made the difficult decision to travel to the city of Dallas, Texas to continue studies and initiate treatments at the Harold C. Simmons National Cancer Center affiliated with the UT Southwestern Hospital under the medical supervision of Dr. Aravind Sanjeevaiah.
Her medical plan covers only part of the expenses and this is why her family, friends and loved ones have opened a bank account in her name and used platforms like GoFundMe * to support her in the creation of a Special Fund to pay for the high expenses of her treatments during these difficult times.
