Pro Bono Lawyer on the Border

Hi, my name is Cricket Kauget. For a little over a year now I have been working full time as a volunteer lawyer for refugees and longtime US residents who find themselves in immigration court. I do asylum trials, bond hearings, and many other kinds of trials and hearings.

People in immigration court don’t get a free lawyer like criminal defendants do so most of them don’t have one, even though the decisions made in immigration court effect their lives forever. I find my clients through a network of organizations including No More Deaths/Keep Tucson Together, Casa Mariposa, Salvavision, Transcend Phoenix, and others. 

I have been been able to work without pay because as a traveller I am  used to living very cheaply, but I still need money for basic necessities and things, hence this fundraiser. Thank you!
