I CAN'T, WE CAN...

Last year we celebrated an exciting new move to a spacious and beautiful new studio down the street at 926 Philadelphia Avenue. While we were happy in our studio home at 932 we were made an offer we could not refuse. A prominent business developer and strong supporter of PMDI offered us a deal of discounted rent for one year, with small graduated increases over time that would allow us to grow comfortably. We were excited as the offer was within our budget and quite frankly a steal!

We previously worked with this developer and felt that we had a great working relationship. We immediately found a way to give up a portion of our 932 studio, and kept the top 2 floors so that we were not in breach of defaulting on our existing lease.

Unfortunately in early December, as we proceeded with the finalization of  the lease agreement, we were cornered into a lease that would have increased to $14,000 a month beginning in 2017 with a 10 year obligation. In the best interest of our dynamic and growing organization, I pulled out of the deal and decided to return back to the 932 studio. It was the best decision for me, the business, the faculty, staff, students and families who have invested so much in the vision of the institute.

We will resume classes in the 932 studio, however, we have not taken repossession of the first floor yet as we need to raise an additional $20,000 to secure an updated lease that includes the first floor. As a temporary solution, we will share space with our third  floor neighbors until we can raise the deposit. It is necessary to secure the first floor in order for our staff to properly manage studio business, have the appropriate amount of space for our classes, have a waiting area for parents, and have a changing area for students. . Thankfully, a group of supportive and dynamic parents have rallied around the studio to help bring awareness to our need. Our newly formed PARENT ADVISORY BOARD (PAB) has encouraged me to share this information with the entire PMDI family.

If you feel that the Princess Mhoon Dance Institute has made an impact in the community and specifically in the life of your dancer, then please help us raise the funds needed.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Sincerely,
