We more than exceeded our goal and have closed the donations feature. Over the coming days we will transfer the funds to our PIE bank account and pay back our debts. Thank you to all of our donors! We are ever so grateful!

Hi, my name is Christina Barrington and I am one of the co-chairs of PIE (Pride in Education). We advocate for 2SLGBTQIA+ students and staff across the four anglophone school districts.

On April 21, we were informed that we would not be receiving funding for PIE School- our dedicated Educator in service during Middle Level Council at Hanwell School. We had been planning the event since early 2023 and were tasked on April 5th to begin getting materials ready for May 5th. 3 of our teacher members incurred debts amounting to $7000 on the promise of the funding from EECD.

For over 10 years PIE has received generous funding for our student conferences and expected similar support for our professional learning day for educators. The information that we share is vital for educators to create safe learning environments for our diverse student population.

We are seeking to simply repay our members and erase our debts prior to planning our student conference in the fall to ensure we are in good financial standing. We are hoping that our many allies and supporters can help us get back into financial health as we continue to advocate for the protection of students, staff and policy 713.
