Please remember I have Parkinson's but it doesn't have me
My Name is Hazel Sneddon
I'm 56 yrs in Oct
I have had Parkinson's for the last 6 years.
I have mainly tremor, painfull cramps and spasms My symptoms are well controlled with medication which have side effects like any other drug.
I've been attending Glasow Elizabeth University Hospital for the last 2 years going through testing to see if I meet the criteria for Deep Brain Simulation Surgery and im finally on the pathway for it next year.
Brain operation includes wire with electrodes planted in the brain .The electrodes send a continuous electronic pulse through them to change the signals in the brain and reduces the symptoms of PD.
My quality of life would improve , no more horrendous side effects.
HOWEVER THIS IS NOT A CURE
The Surgeons ,Consultants and the nursing staff do an extraordinarily excellent job.
I would like the funds to be given to them to help more people like myself.
A new waiting area or a new consulting room would be good as everything is clinical and not the ideal environment when some one is talking about operating on your brain or of course they can decide on what they need.
