PREMIER VOCATIONAL SCHOOL IS OFFICIALLY OPENED!

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO KEEP IT RUNNING!

The name Premier Vocational School represents all that PVS is going to be - Premier.  PVS will be the most competitive school in the area with a program that is not comparable to any other school.  We have consulted with Vocational training experts in the USA and Canada.  After thorough research, we have created a diverse and extensive curriculum that covers the students chosen vocation plus CPR training, Microsoft Office and OSHA practices.  Formal driving education will also be taught.  Haiti has numerous traffic accidents every year which we believe could be prevented if more people were given the opportunity to receive a formal driving education.  There is no other school in the area that is preparing their students for success the way we are.  Premier Vocational School will specifically target young people aged 18-25

More than half of the population of Liancourt is under the age of 20 and lives without any formal education or vocational training.  After the devastating earthquake in 2010, Haiti’s already fragile economy collapsed leaving an unemployment rate of 40% for those under the age of 30. These at-risk youth, barely get by each day having no economic opportunities ahead of them. They are left vulnerable to violence, crime, alcohol, depression, and a feeling of complete hopelessness. There is a pressing need for these young people to have greater opportunities in life.

Premier Vocational School is here to provide those opportunities!

PVS has been self-funded so far, but we need your support!

Your support can help correct the inequalities of access to education and help many young Haitians fulfill their potential.

Your generous contribution to Premier Vocational School will help brighten the future of many young Haitians!

About Premier Vocational School

Students will attend PVS for 18 months.  They will be taught a curriculum in specific trades including:

·        Plumbing

·        Electrical Technician

·        Culinary Arts

·        Welding

·        Administration Assistant

While attending PVS students will learn specific trade skills.  PVS sets out to help our students become employable and to gain entrepreneurial skills. They will gain many essential and fundamental life skills that we often take for granted.  Our aim is to create a sustainable future for our fellow Haitians.

Your generous donations will help fund the solar power system being used to power the school.

Due to the inconsistent availability of electricity in Haiti, the majority of businesses and institutions rely on their own power sources.  Solar panels are the most cost-effective energy source and the most sustainable energy source over the long term.

Your Contribution Will Increase Skilled Workers in Haiti!

OUR MISSION

To increase the economic status of young adults in Liancourt through teaching them relevant skills and knowledge.

OUR VISION

To positively change the lives of young adults in Liancourt by promoting growth and development, in an environment that allows them the opportunity to explore their future and grow their professional skills.

About Us

Our names are Jean Edy Raymond and Roguens Stinvil.  We both grew up in Liancourt but emigrated to the US many years ago.  Even though our lives are outside of Haiti there is a piece of us that will always be in Liancourt.  As diaspora, we feel it is our duty to give back to the community that raised us and gave us the possibilities we have in life today.  We were fortunate enough to receive an education, which to this day we value more than anything.  We want to be able to bring education back to the community and create opportunities for the youth today like we were given so many years ago.  It is our hope that by opening and operating PVS we can provide a high-quality learning environment that will bring positive change to the whole community of Liancourt.  We believe that education is one of the most powerful tools we can give back to our people.  By serving our community through education, we are creating a solution that not only improves Liancourt now but will also be sustainable for years to come.

Liancourt is a community of approximately 36,000 people in the Northwest of Haiti.  Like most of Haiti, Liancourt has felt the effects of an unstable economy, malnutrition, low literacy rates, poor medical care, and a general dysfunction within its society. Unfortunately, most Haitians lack access to quality education which is a requirement to creating sustained social and economic development. This puts generations of Haitian youth at risk of lacking the knowledge and basic skills necessary to succeed in the labor force.

If you believe that giving the people of Haiti an opportunity to have an education is also giving them an opportunity to a better life, then donate to PVS.

Not only are you helping this generation, but you are helping many more generations to come.
