Elderly Mother Prays to Keep Home
Donation protected
The senior lady I am writing about is my dearest friend since junior high school, Elaine. We are 72 and 73 years old now. A former teacher, she is also a woman of deep faith. Three years ago, after over 30 years of marriage, her second husband died of cancer after a long illness during which she nursed him faithfully. She was always the proverbial "good wife." In the following days, she discovered that he had left her virtually penniless. She did not even have a few hundred dollars to cremate him, so I helped her to do that. She always signed where he told her; never asked questions. She is trying to make ends meet on her late husband's social security. In order to pay property taxes, she has sold off her personal items, such as her jewelry including her diamond ring. Her husband had refinanced the house numerous times in order to pay for medical issues, since they did not have insurance. Now, it takes nearly all the social security income to pay the mortgages. It is very difficult to save enough for taxes each year. I thank every person who sends even $10 for my dear friend to ease the fear of losing her home. A selfless person, she has always taken care of others, and still does. Please help her over this last challenge to a more peaceful 2016.
Thank you, dear friends.
