Pray for Lay

Lailah, my little snaggle tooth baby girl, had emergency surgery on 3/27/18. after studdently becoming paralyzed in her back legs. She has dianosed with inverterbral disc disease (IVDD). IVDD is a condition where discs between the vertebrae of the spinal column either bulge or burst into the spinal cord space. These discs then press on the nerves running through the spinal cord causing pain, nerve damage, and even paralysis.

The day before (3/26/18) I brought her to the vet because I noticed she was having trouble walking and yelped everytime I picked her up. She was given heavy pain meds and the Vet informed me it might get worst over time.  About an hour after seeing her vet, she couldn’t move. She was crying and screaming if I even pet her. She couldn’t pick her legs up and she was too uncomfortable to even lay down. This was the saddest thing, I couldn't even comfort her. I knew I couldn’t wait til the morning. I called a friend to help me put her in the car and I rushed her to VCA the animal hospital in Weymouth. They then called in the neurologist, Dr. Berthiaume. She went into surgery around midnight. It was probably the most stressful 3 hours of my life.

Lailah's doctors said she did great in surgery and was able to walk on her own with assistance. They are expecting her to recover well and be back to her silly self in 6 weeks with a lot of rest.We are finally home and resting- She is currently taking 8 pills a day and I can only let her out of her crate to go potty. It breaks my heart  but I am praying for my little girl to be her happy little self soon.  She is still very sore from surgrey, but is slowly improving everyday. I keep saying Time Heals Everything!

Everyone knows how much I love my animals and that would do anything in the world for them. These little ones are my children. Being that Lailah is 7 and has a number of years to live, i opted for her to have this surgrey instead of putting her down. I made this decision knowing it could cost upwards of 8,000. I am prepared to pay her medical bills on my own one way or another, however if any of you are able to assist with this I'd be beyond grateful. I am so thankful for all of your support during this time and value any donation, large or small, you are able to make!

Thank you all again for thinking of Lay, reaching out to me and passing this mesaage along to others.
