Prayers for Michael, Helping with medical bills

Anyone who knows Mike Graham knows he is a very caring, compassionate man. He is a loving father, Grandpa, uncle and brother. Unfortunately for him tragedy struck on March 1st 2021.

He was trimming a tree when all of a sudden he passed out on the ladder causing him to fall fifteen feet leaving him completely unconscious. It was extremely traumatizing for me to witness but I’m thankful I was there to call for help. He was taken by ambulance to Passavant Area Hospital then later transported to Memorial Medical Center in Springfield Illinois where he is still currently staying.

Mike was left with his entire neck broken and upper back broken along with broken ribs. He has a spinal cord injury and bone fragments in his spine. We were told by the doctor this is one of the worst breaks he has seen. He was bed ridden for three days awaiting surgery. He had to make sure to lay still and not take the chance of paralyzing him self. He was put on C-Spine precautions until he finally had surgery.

He underwent a very intense complicated 6 hour surgery. The doctor placed 2 big rods and 10 screws. He also had to open his spine for the spinal cord injury. We are forever grateful he did not become paralyzed but the Doctor is extremely worried about long term weakness on the right side.

We are hoping this will be the only surgery and we will start therapy as soon as possible. We appreciate the Community of Winchester coming together for a prayer chain that reached people out of state but now we need everyone to please help us raise money.

Unfortunately, mike didn’t have any insurance and has already been denied charity care.

Our dad will be out of work for an undetermined amount of time. He will start a rehabilitation program to start strengthening the spine and work hard on the right side of his body. He will spend 4/5 hours DAILY doing intense therapy.

We’re already looking at over $275,000 in medical bills now. Between both ambulance rides, the hospital stay, the medications, the anesthesia, the actual spinal fusion and decompression surgery , the daily room cost. He also will have his every day life bills to worry about.

We understand money can be tight. But we’re asking even if you could donate $1 or $5 every little bit counts. Please remember to share this page and help it get all over.
