PPE Masks for Hospitals

NEED YOUR HELP MAKING
3D PRINTED MASKS FOR HOSPITALS

We really need your immediate help.

We are 3D printing face masks and face shields to be used in hospitals, clinics, and assisted living facilities by front-line healthcare providers, but we're running out of money to buy the raw material.

As you know, the need for Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is so great right now, once word got out that we were manufacturing this equipment, we were overwhelmed with requests. We have more capacity to create masks, and we are donating all our time, but we need the materials. 3D printers may print with plastic, but the plastic filament costs money. A single 1kg spool of plastic can make 15 masks and shields, and costs upwards of $30.00

Who are we? We are engineers and engineering students, friends who all met in our high school robotics program and decided to lend our expertise in this nationwide effort to quickly create PPE for our area. At a time where so many are feeling powerless to help, we are coming together on perhaps the most important project of our lives, and we are making a difference.

Every one of our local hospitals has placed orders with us. We have gotten requests from as far away as New York City. Facilities are desperate for this equipment. Requests are reaching several thousand, with no signs of slowing.

We are working as hard as we can. But we REALLY could use your support.

Every dollar you contribute will make equipment. We are all volunteers, and we seek zero profit.

We simply want to make a direct impact, and we hope you do too.

Our deepest thanks,

A bunch of engineering nerds who love our community.

ABOUT THE MASKS WE MANUFACTURE
Each mask is 3D printed with a filter holder and uses EDPM foam tape to form a good seal around the face. We are using elastic cord as straps and high efficiency air filters to filter out 85-90% of all particulates up to 0.3 micron in diameter. This compares to a medical grade N95 mask, which is rated for at least 95% capture rate of particles 0.3 micron in diameter. The face shields use a 3D printed form to hold a sheet of acetate plastic in front of the wearer's face to protect from droplet spray. These are special because all the frame components for both the shield and mask are plastic, they are soil-proof, and can be indefinitely reused. The masks are made according to the “Montana Mask” standards created at https://www.makethemasks.com

WHO IS RECEIVING THESE MASKS?
We already have standing requests from all major area hospitals from several departments, including Kaweah Delta, Kaiser Permanente, Clovis Community Medical Center, Community Regional Medical Center, St. Agnes Medical Center, the VA Hospital, Valley Children’s Hospital, and Lake Havasu Regional Medical Center.

WHO IS MAKING THESE MASKS?
We are alumni of FIRST Robotics Teams 1671, 5817 and 6305. We met in high school, pursued engineering as a career, and we’ve stayed in touch as we’ve followed each other’s careers and supported each other through the rigors of the industry’s requirements. When our world’s health workers became so severely impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak, we banded together to help as directly as we knew how.
