Our healthcare system has been overwhelmed by the coronavirus pandemic and is struggling to keep up with the rising cases. Our local healthcare workers are the front line in the fight against this virus, and we are failing to protect them.
Over the past few weeks, there are more and more posts on social media, and stories in the news of nurses, doctors, and other healthcare workers pleading for donations of gloves, masks, and other personal protective equipment (PPE) because our hospitals are running out (or already have run out) of these items due to both supply problems as well as the increased costs.
The CDC has advised that healthcare workers wear bandanas in a desperate effort to try and protect them from getting sick as well.

PPE is still AVAILABLE, but due to increased worldwide demand and the need for expedited production and shipping, prices have surged and further worsened the already dangerous shortages.
