Sheila's Open Heart Surgery

This is my mother Sheila Holt. My mom and I have basically been on our own for the past 5 years. She is a single mother trying to juggle a full-time job while silently battling a serious heart condition. Ten years ago, my mother underwent her first open-heart surgery to replace a failing heart valve due to her aortic valve deficiency. During those ten years, she has faced a multitude of hardships after escaping an abusive relationship. Life threw so many obstacles in her way, but she showed me what it looks like to be strong in the face of adversity. Unfortunately, life is throwing my mother another curveball as she recently found out she will need to undergo another open heart surgery and in preparation of the upcoming surgery, she had to undergo extensive testing. It was during one of these tests that my mom suffered a mild stroke which has affected her eyesight and equilibrium making it difficult for her to drive and function daily. Being on her own without the support of a husband, my mom is facing insurmountable odds as bills are piling up. This life saving surgery is going to require her missing at least 3 months of work with no income. I have started this Go Fund Me to help her pay her bills and keep a roof over her head while she undergoes another risky but necessary surgery. My mom has been my rock and is the embodiment of true strength and has sacrificed so much to provide for me, and I feel it is my turn to be strong for her.
