Power Puerto Rico thru Massage
Donation protected
UPDATE: The project has a $20k price tag...but our seed money will bring in even more. Please give now.
Puerto Rico was devestated by two hurricanes this fall. The impact continues; the 'apagon' or super-blackout has become the longest and largest major power outage in modern US history. [pictures ]
Puerto Rico Massage and Bodywork Institute (PRMBI ) is small, independant school with a huge local reputation. It has a positive impact on thousands of people's lives through their local training, career advancement, volunteer coordination, and direct aid work. After the hurricanes the school lost power for 2.5 months: no light, no air conditioning, no laundry, no refrigeration.
To do its good work, the school needs a reliable source of power. On-site small-scale solar power is a very promising solution for Puerto Rico and PRMBI, but requires a large up-front investment.
We think it can be done. As a start, Advanced-Trainings.com has pledged $1000 in matching contributions*, doubling your impact.
PRMBI has been nominated by the Solar for Puerto Rico/Golden Triad Fund as a target recipient for fundraising aid and donor matching for their exemplary humanitarian activities. Aid recipients agree to provide volunteer hours to the project as a way to give back. Upon receiving the equipment, they will nominate another recipient to receive donated equipment.
Please donate one of your sessions to their fund. If you give the cost of just one of your sessions, think of all the people you'll touch. Any amount helps.
*PRMBI hosts Advanced-Trainings.com's workshops in Puerto Rico for the last 3 years. To help our friends there continue their good work, Advanced-Trainings.com has matched $1000 in dovations, and will be offering workshops there this summer. Please give now.
