Post-Adoptive Therapies for 9-Year Old Amara

Donation protected
Nine-year old Amara is a wonderful little girl, with a huge smile, who has been through more than any child ever should.

Chelsea and Jared, Amara's (adoptive) parents are a loving couple, faithful followers of Christ, and believers that every kid deserves the chance to be in a loving house, be raised in the church, and someone to help them heal.

They are humbly asking for IMMEDIATE help to seek intensive post-adoptive therapies for one of their daughters, Amara, who is facing immense challenges due to her early life.

URGENT: Right now, Amara urgently needs therapies that are cost-prohibitive and that DHS will not cover, unless they surrender their parental rights back over to the state - which is something Chelsea & Jared are wanting desperately to avoid (and do not plan on doing, even if they do not meet the financial goals).

*PLEASE: When commenting, sharing, or discussing helping this family, they ask that you DO NOT reveal their location, due to safety concerns for the children, who came from a dangerous situation before they were adopted.

Here are just of a few of the URGENT services that Amara is in need of, and your donation will enable her to receive the following:

1) Neurofeedback done by a local Doctor.

2) Intensive Family Counseling / Reattachment Therapy / Sexual Rehabilitation Therapy

3) Dialectical Behavior Therapy

4) Night Shift worker who can come and let them sleep but watch for her to be in a flashback and wake her and bring her out of it. (When she has flashbacks she disassociates and feels like she is there, that triggers rage/fight or flight when can be different things hurting the family or running away.)

Approx $8,000-$10,000 per month

Amara's Adoption Story

Chelsea & Jared were tagged in a Facebook post with children in the Foster Care system who were seeking adoptive homes. Something about these children's picture and the statement drew them in.

They promptly contacted their social worker and sent in a request to adopt them. Within a couple of weeks, they went through interviews and were matched with these children.

It was crazy, fast, and exciting.

The children had been through a lot but Chelsea & Jared hoped they could be what they needed and they could grow up in the church and learning to love Jesus. Chelsea and Jared quickly were met with a roadblock, which forced them to make the decision to move to a different state temporarily so that they could adopt the children.

Thankfully, with the help of the church, they were able to move to the children's state, where they quickly got licensed and the children were able to move in with them.  After five months they were able to move back to their home state and settle into their new life together.

Chelsea & Jared knew their children had a tough road ahead of them, but firmly believe every kid deserves the chance to be in a loving house, be raised in the church, and someone to help them heal.

Amara is having a hard time healing with so much to overcome; and Chelsea & Jared have tried every avenue possible to seek help for her and now are humbly asking for any donations possible to help get Amara the healing she deserves as a child of God. Any little bit will help.

A few extra thoughts from Martha, the fundraiser organizer:
#1. Chelsea and Jared's local congregation is providing a ton of loving support, as well. AND, it's also an opportunity for us who have a heart for helping children to come together. I'm thankful for the body of Christ that has no geographic boundaries and for hearts who want to help.
#2. GoFundMe only takes out 2.9% plus $.30, which covers credit card processing fees. So, please don't hesitate to donate because you are worried about fees.
#3. Pray. Somehow, I forgot to mention that. But, prayer works. It's not just lip service. There's a reason we are told to pray. We may not understand exactly how it works, but it does. Please pray.
