Centro de sauld chocco clinic

Fellow friends, family, acquaintances, insta followers you may have already realized I’m currently in Peru - Cuzco volunteering as a nurse. A portion of my time here will be spent at this clinic that is located on top of a hill in the Santiago district. This clinic attends to patients from this under privileged neighbour hood. The clinic is tiny but is separated into small rooms that tend to - general medicine, paediatrics, topical treatments, psychiatry and obstetrics. I literally almost lost a lung trying to climb those stairs to get there. They see those who cannot afford to access health care. I have brought as much medical supplies that I could possibly fit in my luggage. I want to set up this fund to help this clinic get sustainable equipment (blood pressure cuff, thermometers, safety syringes, gloves, scales, vaccinations!!) Every single dollar  will be used to purchase sustainable things for this small clinic. My first day was Monday and I knew going into it not to expect the canadian health standards but it was sad to see that they do not have even BASIC necessities to care for patients. They don’t use gloves, they have needles the size of a horse to vaccinate small babes, they run out of vaccines often, they don’t have a BP machine that works or a thermometer. I know we can’t change the world completely but what I want to do is provide  this clinic with sustainable equipment they can use and supplies that the health care works here can use to keep them selves safe. Also a portion will be going to set up the paediatric room to make it more kid friendly, age appropriate toys. Also it’s blooooody freezing here they have no heat imagine I’m wearing layers on layers still cold and now we have to undress the babies to examine them and we’re 11000ft high so an electronic heater would Be nice as well for this room. I will take photos of all supplies purchased. Not being able to give a two month old baby a vaccination today because they ran out was heart breaking. I’m not even kidding when I say ONE CANADIAN DOLLAR goes so far. So skip the latte for a day and give a baby a vaccine or health care workers gloves to use.  Much love. Radiate positivity. And pay it forward. Karma.
