Midland, MI Poseyville Party Store Flood Relief

During the evening of May 19th, 2020, two dam failures (Edenville and Sanford) resulted in catastrophic flooding for many residents and businesses downstream in Midland County.  This included the Bullock Creek Area businesses, located just south of the City of Midland, when the Poseyville Rd  "dam" was compromised in the early hours of May 20th, 2020. Businesses thru to the Ashby Rd intersection were flooded with up to 6’+ water.  Keep in mind that a lot of these businesses also endured the 1986 flood, which prompted the installation of the Poseyville Rd "dam" and operation of the pump house (Johnston Contracting) if/when the Tittabawassee River was going to crest above what was known to flood the area.

With that said, one of the impacted businesses is the Poseyville Party Store owned by Lori McNeil. If you have ever worked, visited, lived or traveled thru our Bullock Creek area on Poseyville, chances are you have stopped by her store to get a snack, a drink, a newspaper, etc. I know we frequent this store, as it is within walking distance from our home, and have been neighborhood friends/patrons for almost 20 years.  Adam has done work at the store for Lori in the past, which included the recent organization/coordination store clean out on May 27-30  . It is a great feeling to walk into a place and they know you like a friend, which is what the store has meant to us and many others thru the years . This has been a staple location for many decades and needs help beyond normal patronage.

Since FEMA only provides assistance for residents, meaning no aid for small businesses, and insurance providing little to no coverage, we are hoping to raise some funds to help offset expenses related to flood relief as the money raised will go directly to Lori McNeil.  It has been stated that she will not be opening the store back up due to her health.  We know there are a lot of people and businesses impacted by these floods so thank you to anyone who can donate to help.
