Thank you so much for your interest and support in the Feature Film Development Fund for the extended version of the short film, FREESTATE.

I am Martha Ferguson, the  Director and Producer of this short film set in Zimbabwe. I am so excited, it is such a privedge and honor to be working with my Zimbabwean partners, Tsitsi Dangarembga and Stephen Chigorimbo as we set out to take this Award Winning Short Film and turn it into a feature length film! The Feature Length film, title TBA, is an epic, sweeping drama set in today's Zimbabwe that captures the dreams and desires of ordinary Zimbabweans. A story about belonging and freedom. It tells the story of a woman returning home to bury her grandmother's ashes in Zimbabwe, a man she falls in love with and the obstacles she encounters along the way. It becomes a journey back to a forgotten part of herself and offers her another chance to decide who she wants to be. 

Join us in this African adventure and help us by getting involved at the early stages of development with this film.  Film is a collaborative medium and it takes many people to make a film. This film will employ many talented Zimbabwean artists, screenwriters, story editors, producers, and musicians and it is our hope that this film will shine a light on Zimbabwean talent and help connect them with the global film industry. We would be so grateful for any contributions that you are able to provide towards our next steps to secure the major international producers and actors that are necessary for the financing of this project.  

We have brought together an extraordinary team of Zimbabwean talent: Award winning filmmaker and novelist Tsitsi Dangarembga, Internationally renowned Zimbabwean actor Stephen Chigorimbo, South African writer Melissa Webster and many more. 

We are accepting any and all amounts:
 $5 -  25  gets you a Big love thank you credit in the film and an official t-shirt
$50- 100 gets you a Big Love thank you credit and an official t-shirt
$100-1000 gets you a Big love thank you credit in the film, t-shirt and tickets to the Premiere opening.
