Port Charlotte High School Wrestling team is in need of new equipment. The mat we are currently using is old and falling apart, due to years of improper care and storage. We have no equipment geared towards wrestling conditioning and fitness.
Wrestling is unlike any other sport. It teaches you individual responsibility, free thought, think under pressure, and take advantage of an opportunity when it presents itself. That is what I am looking to provide these kids. An opportunity.
An opportunity to believe in themselves.
An opportunity to prove themselves.
An opportunity to succeed.
These fellas don't mind working towards their goals, we just need a little help. They worked to pay for new uniforms this past season.
This past summer we worked hard towards our goal of new equipment. Each kid worked all summer doing odd jobs to raise money for our program. They did a great job raising over $3,000. But, with COVID hitting families hard, and financially we decided to invest that money back into the kids instead. So every kid worked to pay for their own way to a week long wrestling camp. Which I'm my opinion was a better investment than new mats. The kids came away with better skills, a new respect for the sport, and a drive to get better.
This season we finished 16-7 in Duals, missing 3 weight classes, and starting down 18 points every dual. Those 16 wins were more than the previous 4 seasons combined.
Help us to provide these kids an opportunity to succeed. Sometimes all you need is someone to believe in you, and an opportunity.
