Project 2 Heal Pond Repair

Donation protected
For those of you that have ever owned a Labrador or visited Project 2 Heal you know how much these guys love water. Part of the work we do here at Project 2 Heal is enrichment not only for our puppies but our adult dogs. When our facility was designed, our founders at their very own expense paid for a beautiful stream with a return pool where the small pups could wade and of course a big pond where we could provide physical exercise and retriever training for our older pups and our breeding dogs.

Unfortunately,  after 10 years of operation and a number of repairs, a few of the dogs decided to use the rubber lining as a chew toy thus creating a huge leak in the pond and waterfall. The pond has been unusable for several months now and our dogs greatly miss it.  After several quotes we were lucky enough to find a company that loves dogs and our mission as much as we do. Brian from Hoaglandscape is donating his personal labor costs towards this project, greatly reducing the cost of repair. He has come up with a design that will help to prevent this type of repair in the future and improving upon the existing design. While this is still an expensive repair, it is much more cost effective than anticipated.

Our pups and dogs love the pond as well as the children that attend our camps and those with special needs who come here to have free therapy sessions with the dogs. The beautiful smiles we see from them when a dog excitedly jumps into the water to retrieve the ball they threw is priceless.

We have used GO Fund me in the  past to fund serious unexpected emergency medical needs such as surgery for our dogs. We have never used it to try to fund something like this. However, I cannot imagine this property without that beautiful stream and pond.  It has been such a big part of our dogs daily routine year round.
That is why I have decided to start this page. I know there are a lot more important things that people can donate their hard earned dollars to. However, I believe this is the heart of our facility for these future service dogs. Remember, these are Labradors and this is their water retreat.

So, I respectfully ask that you consider  making a donation, of any size, to help us fix our stream and pond so that we can continue to use it as enrichment for the pups and dogs that we prepare to become service dogs for our veterans and children with special needs.
