Friends and Family:

Please stand by Renee.

My cousin (“sister”) Renee has been my best friend my whole life.  She’s a year older than me, a fact she never let me forget when we were kids, and that I don’t let her forget now.  ☺  Renee has been sick recently and could use some help.  Her sister Robin wrote the following:

“I write today to ask for your help for my sister, Renee. She has been admitted in and out of the hospital numerous times since the end of June. Some of these hospital stays have been a week or longer. She has been attempting to continue to go to work, even in her extremely weakened state but has missed so much work because of this illness that she is in a difficult situation now. Her medical bills are mounting by the day and her day-to-day living expenses keep coming as well.

Let me give you a brief overview of what has transpired in Renee’s life recently. Around the end of June, Renee was found on the floor, completely unresponsive. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital and over the course of a few days, she began to regain consciousness. Every test in the book was done on her and her team of doctors concluded that she had brain swelling but didn’t know why. After a week-long stay in the hospital and a lot of steroids, she was released with follow-up appointments with oncologists and neurologists. One of the tests performed was an angiogram of her brain where lesions were discovered and Multiple Sclerosis or another auto-immune disorder was suspected but not confirmed. She seemed to improve slowly and gain some strength back over the next week or two and then it all began to unravel again leading to multiple trips to the emergency room and several more hospital stays, the last one being another episode of unconsciousness for three days, brain swelling again and more steroid drug therapy to reduce the swelling.

This brings us to this morning. She has been in the hospital well over a week again and hopefully will be going home soon. I’m asking all her friends, family, and loved ones if they can support her in any way to please do so. Any amount at all that you can offer would be of such benefit to her and so greatly appreciated in this horrible time of illness and uncertainty.”

Update to when Robin wrote this, Renee was released from the hospital and is staying with our “sister” (best friend) Dee Dee until she is cleared to stay by herself again.  Let’s help her by taking away the burden of worrying about her bills so she can concentrate on healing.

Thank you for anything you can do.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Her sisters,

Carrie, Robin & Dee Dee
