Update from Cody's grandmother Sharon:

Heartfelt thanks to everyone who has donated. My son Jason and my granddaughter Cyan are forever grateful. Cody passed this morning, 19th March. It will be a day that will forever be in our hearts Cody has already saved two lives through organ donation.

Our family is organising this fundraiser on behalf of Cody, Cyan and Jay. Below are some words from Cody’s grandmother, Sharon:

Cody Jay Dempster was full of life, loving, caring, funny and cheeky. He is the son of Jason, brother to Cyan, and my beautiful grandson. My name is Sharon and on Thursday morning, 14/3/24, our lives changed forever. In a single vehicle car accident near Toorbul, Cody suffered serious life threatening injuries. He exited his vehicle staggering and then collapsed. He had suffered an Asystole Heart Attack - Flat lined. A passerby saw him and commenced CPR until the ambulance arrived. As he was without oxygen to the brain for 30 minutes, he has extensive brain damage. Cody has since been on Life Support and given a 5% chance of survival. My beautiful son Jason, is now faced with a decision no parent should ever have to make. Cody and his Dad were mates, best buddies and they live together. Sister Cyan and Cody’s love for each other as siblings, is very evident. The 3 of them are a loving family unit. Like Cody, my son Jason has a more severe form of Osteogenesis Imperfecta (Brittle Bones) which renders him unable to work.

Sadly this tragedy will leave the family struggling financially. Any financial support you find in your heart to give, will definitely help. A week ago, Cody gave me a huge hug. I whispered in his ear how very much I love him and always have. I will treasure that moment for ever.
