Please help Victor to keep helping others!

I've started this GoFundMe page for my good friend Victor Rogers to help both him and the people he supports during this challenging time. Victor is a selfless individual who has pledged most of his adult life in assisting those who are less fortunate than himself. His story is inspiring and something that I would like to see him continue. Hopefully opening this page, Victor can receive the support that he needs to continue his legacy in helping people in impoverished areas in Thailand. Here are some words from Victor regarding this funding drive:

"Thank you very much for doing this for me, Zoey. My name is Victor Rogers, and I've always done my best to help others. I'm a military veteran and spent the majority of my time in the Navy forward-deployed overseas. This is where I first learned that I always wanted to assist people where I could. As a Plane Captain, I got my tire and wheel qualification to help the Troubleshooters when needed. When assigned to my shop, I always supported the Plane Captains by carrying chains and other items for them when possible. When assigned to other land-based duties, I always helped both the civilian population and other units as much as I could. I've worked primarily as a Paramedic and Firefighter in the civilian world, both for the government and private sectors. This included volunteering to teach first aid, fire safety, and basic firefighting to well over 1,000 people over the years. This includes providing ambulance response and medical training to remote indigenous committees in Australia, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea and Thailand. I've always felt that it was my duty to help the needy and have lived by the motto "If we are both hungry and only I have a sandwich, we both have half a sandwich".

After becoming disabled by both physical trauma and the discovery of a medical condition that rendered me unable to continue working in emergency services, I moved to Southeast Asia where I started a business that empowered disadvantaged people to set up their own shops or stalls and begin working for themselves. It was quite successful, helped dozens of people out of poverty, and allowed me an income to keep up my philanthropic activities. I began working as a volunteer with the Tourist Police, where I worked to assist foreign tourists with any problems they may have encountered while on vacation. I taught English to orphans and bought meals for entire orphanages regularly. I fed Burmese refugees and educated them on legitimate career prospects and becoming self-sufficient. I assisted in removing land mines in Cambodia and unexploded ordinance (leftover WWII bombs) from the ground in Papua New Guinea. I volunteered my time rehabilitating elephants, tigers, and other animals exploited by tourism and other industries.

Most of all, I simply gave random strangers food or money when they were in need, and I often did so without drawing attention to what I was doing or even introducing myself. I would simply give the person the money, food, clothing, or whatever, and say "You look like you're in need and I hope this helps. Try and have a good day" then walk away. Thousands of people and animals were helped, and they, in turn, helped me in many nonspecific ways. Doing these things made me very happy, helped with my PTSD and nightmares, improved my physical health by removing stress, and gave me a purpose in life again.

Unfortunately, last year Covid hit the world, and everything changed. Nobody could travel, and the people whose businesses I started found themselves without customers. I found myself without an income and without the ability to help others. Things got worse and worse, but I considered myself fortunate because I had the funds to survive the year, as a worst-case scenario, and wait things out. Unfortunately, my "worst case" scenario has now become the best case. In Thailand, I find myself down to my last few dollars, with no money to pay my bills, and facing both being homeless and losing literally everything I own in a matter of days. I am asking for your generosity and assistance in overcoming this situation and allowing me to meet my lifelong goal of helping others once again.

However, I'm not asking for absolute charity. Zoey, my good friend who has started this campaign for me, and I were in the process of creating a new company when this nightmare began. We would use my experience and expertise in Southeast Asian travel to provide vacationers with the ultimate travel experience by ensuring them a bespoke Asian adventure in the safest, most memorable, way for minimum cost. She has agreed to provide these services to everyone who makes a significant donation ($100 or more) to this campaign once they can travel. Additionally, I have a small collection of rare Buddhist artifacts and Thai police memorabilia to trade to the highest donors if desired. People can message me with details of their donation, and we can discuss which item they would like and how I can get it to them.

I thank you in advance for your help and extreme generosity. "Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." -The Dalai Lama"
