Please help Victor and Gaby

Hello friends! My brother Victor and his partner Gaby came home yesterday to the front door of their apartment unlocked. FDNY had entered on Friday evening to access and put out a fire in the adjacent apartment. The fire sparked while his elderly neighbor was asleep, activating the sprinklers on the ceiling. As you can imagine, we are very happy and thanking God that the story does not get any worse than this. The sprinklers and the efforts of fire fighters diminished the blaze, but along the way the neighbor's apartment is completely in ruin. By association, my brother and Gaby came home to devastation in the form of water on all their belongings, kitchen, and living room decorations. 
I am creating this page to see if we can collect our resources to provide some assistance to my brother and his neighbor. Thank you for your well wishes and we will be posting updates as we receive them.

Next Steps: 

-C&C Apt. Mgmt will have to assess the damage to my brother's apartment in the coming days. We would imagine this process will be slowed slightly by two factors: the coming holidays and the current limitations in our city's services due to covid precautions.
-My brother and Gaby will begin to pack their things and lucky have loving family members with closeby warm beds at the ready.
-His elderly neighbor is unharmed-- we hope to post an update and make contact with the intent of our fundraiser here being to split the funds in half and assist their recovery as well.

Other ways to help:

-Would appreciate direction navigating process of filing Water Damage or Loss Claim Form to the NYC Comptroller office -- must be completed within 90 days of the occurence.
