We never saw ourselves having to do this kind of thing, but we are where we are. (swallowing pride)
I (Vanessa) am not well, and haven't been in a long time. With my doctor's support, I am applying for Disability.
I really don't like to talk about my illnesses, but since I'm asking for financial assistance, I feel some brief explanation/description is in order:
I have Diabetes. I have, over the last 7-8 years, developed several complications. Even with medical insurance, I cannot afford the medications I need to take, the surgery/surgeries (amputations) I will require in the very near future, the rehab/physical therapy I'll need afterward, the hearing aids and sign language courses that are also in my near future, and the new glasses I need.
I also suffer from a handful of mental illnesses. I prefer not to list them here; if you'd like to know more about them, you may PM me on Facebook. We do not have the funds to cover the medications & therapy for those, either.
I have completed the first part of my application for Disability, & hope to finish the rest this week at the Social Security office in Madison. There is no way of knowing how long the process will take. From what I've heard, it could be a year! (So, our goal amount may go up.)
In the meantime, I cannot work, so only my husband, Ken is bringing in a paycheck. His income does not cover rent, car payment, car insurance, & utilities (our electricity was disconnected a little over a week ago). We have applied for (& have been denied) energy assistance (they do not take car & car insurance into account, so, to them, Ken makes a bit more gross per year than the maximum allowable.). We came in at the bare minimum for Foodshare - $15.00/month for May & June only. We are facing possible eviction, and having our only means of transportation repossessed.
It's grim.
Please help us. We are in desperate need of support, or we would never ask like this.
