Hello everyone, my name is Sandy Ellis and I’m the editor of a fantastic new series of Short Stories called "The Hope Series". This series is all about the beauty, courage, determination and transformative power of hope, and we're asking for your donation no matter how small, to help us get this project into bookshops, libraries, schools and prisons. 

 

Worldwide, contributing authors to this series are presently writing their stories for Volume 1 “Smiling At Fear”, to be released in November this year by Australian indie publishing company, Iron Bridge Publishing.

 

Each of our international story tellers have struggled with, and overcome, great suffering as a consequence of their experiences in The Family International religious cult (aka The Children of God). The leaders and founders of this cult, David Berg and Karen Zerby, are strikingly similar to the mythical Pandora of ancient times who opened a formidable box releasing torment and sorrow upon a hapless world.

 

Berg and Zerby unmercifully unleashed a flood of abuse and exploitation upon their misguided followers and their innocent children. Their legacy is overwhelmingly one of ruin, loss, family breakup, high suicide rates, and early deaths.

 

Yet there are those who’ve fought to break free from this cult, to fully emancipate themselves from its ideology and practices, and who've carved out new lives for themselves and their loved ones, guided and strengthened by the one thing this organization could never destroy - their hope; their determination for better and happier lives.

This Hope Series is written by them, the survivors of this cult,  told in their own voices and on their own terms.
