Please help my sister.

My sister Eva Lott suffered a massive heart attack on Oct. 6, 2020. Since then she has undergone numerous procedures to save her life.

On October 5th, 2020, my sister felt chest pains, called an ambulance and was rushed to the hospital where they found that she had suffered a heart attack.

Initial tests determined she was also suffering from acute pneumonia and the fluid was keeping her heart from operating to its fullest extent.

Eva is a minister and Life Coach. Her Faith is what sustains her and it continues to move her towards recovery. God has a further plan for her.

My family lives in Garland, Texas. Eva lives in Temple. For those who don’t know, that’s about a three-hour drive. We were at home celebrating my son’s birthday when we got the call about Eva.

I was informed she had to have a triple bypass due to the condition of her heart.

We were told that Eva’s pneumonia would make it extremely dangerous to put her under for this procedure.

My son drove me through the night to get to Scott and White in time for the surgery scheduled for the next morning.

Eva was supposed to go in for the bypass at 7 AM.

Eric dropped me at the hospital and I was there in time to see her before the surgery. She knew me and I was able to hold her hand and reassure her that I was there. Once she was taken to the OR I called my son to meet me and my younger sister Leslie for lunch.

We all ate and waited.

And waited.

We received a few automated messages letting us know things were okay, but the procedure itself seemed to take forever. Finally, the doctor called and explained that Eva did go back at 7 AM, but that she had a second massive heart attack while on the table, so the procedure was not performed until 9 AM.

Eva was put on life support immediately. One of the valves in her heart collapsed after the first surgery and they had to leave her chest open for several days while a balloon was put in to support the valve.

Eva was immediately put on a ventilator.

She now has a tracheotomy supported ventilator as there is a chance of infection if it stays down her throat.

She has been on 100% life support for 3 weeks. She does recognize my sister and I. With Co-vid we are very limited as to how much we can visit her. She is a widow and we sisters are all she has. When I am there, her eyes light up, she squeezes my hand and tries to smile. The doctor’s are amazed at how strong she is.

My son and I stayed the first week getting Eva’s things in order. We spoke with Eva’s friends and other family members to find out what bills had been paid and what we needed to do to support her.

Constant medical adjustments are being made for Eva, sometimes hourly.

Initially, she had an Impala shoulder pump that helped her heart beat, but one portion of her heart collapsed and kept shutting the pump off. They have made constant adjustments to this pump, sometimes replacing it with the balloon.

The doctors are trying a fluid that will hopefully help expand the heart again.

She is back up to 100% on the ventilator.

She has extreme edema which further puts her heart at risk.

Further tests reveal she had suffered a stroke prior to be admitted to the hospital.

She now has Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) which has caused her body to form blood clots.

This puts her at an extreme risk for an embolism.

Eva has had to undergo numerous other procedures, but her will to live remains without question and God is sustaining her.

Every day we are praying that Eva will improve.

Some days are good, others are not so good.

We are writing this letter to you today because Eva will potentially be disabled for a long time.

We don’t know what the future holds, but we do know that we need your love and support to help get her affairs in order, be they medical, rent, or other bills that need to be taken care of.

When Eva finally leaves the hospital she will be sent to an Intensive rehab center, probably for months.

My goal is to keep Eva from losing her home and her belongings.

She will need financial support to achieve this and to pay what will surely be massive hospital bills.

My pledge to my sister is to lift those worries from her so she can heal.

Eva has touched many lives with her spirit - please help me to give her back her freedom and her life.

We come to you in this hour of genuine need knowing you will respond because you are our friends and you are our family and it is simply the right thing to do.

Your prayers are welcome, your hearts are warm, and we love you all for taking the time to read this.

God Bless you all.
