Please Help my Aunts—They are in Desperate Need

My dear aunts Marsha and Martha (my mother’s twin sisters) are living in dire circumstances due to the effects of water damage and black mold in their home.  

They had no idea they had a black mold problem until their hot water heater burst in the night, flooding their house.  The company they hired to clean the water found moisture in several walls and a serious black mold problem.  The kitchen and laundry room were completely gutted, as well as part of the dining room.  And the floors, carpets and pads in the kitchen, laundry room, dining room and living room had to be removed.  The company that did this work packed my aunts’ belongings and furnishings from these four rooms and took their things to a company storage unit.  My aunts will not have their belongings returned to them until they have paid the company in full.

Homeowners insurance should have covered the expenses, but my aunts found out too late that the company they used had been sold—and their policy had been dropped without their knowledge.

My aunts are disabled and have ongoing health concerns.  Marsha has debilitating arthritis.  She has heart disease that has required numerous surgeries.  She undergoes regular blood and iron infusions.  In December 2017, a brain aneurysm caused Marsha a massive stroke which left her blind.  Her sister Martha has diabetes, asthma and fibromyalgia.  

Without a kitchen, my aunts are not able to prepare meals as they normally do for their health needs, which is taking its toll.  (Marsha has dropped below 100 pounds).  Their only access to running water is in the bathroom.  With one aunt blind and the other using a cane to walk, the damaged floors are uneven and unsafe to walk on. 

These are two of the kindest ladies you could ever meet.  To know they are going through this (and have been enduring this hardship for many months) is absolutely heartbreaking for our family.
