Please help us build a new sanctuary

My name is Howie Berkowitz and I am known and the Duck savior. I started my duck sanctuary 10 years ago at my house with 5 rescue ducks that had been dumped at a feed store in the middle of the night. I figured, I have been raising chickens, how much different can ducks be? There was an underestimating if there ever was one and so my education in the duck world began. It didn't take long to find out that ducks as cute as they are as babies... soon grow up to be big ducks that require a lot of maintenance and care as well as a special diet and lots and lots of water... nothing could have ever prepared me for what was going to happen in the following years. It turns out that lots of people haphazardly buy ducks as pets not knowing what's coming in the next 6 months. Ducks go from cute peeping yellow babies into full grown quacking ducks in just 6 months... people then find out how messy, noisy, and care intensive they are and most wind up being dumped at parks and lakes, only to be eaten by predators or starving to death! Ducks as you may or may not know are domestic and cannot fly, defend themselves, or find a source of food. So, in the following few years, I went from 5 rescue ducks to a 100 rescue ducks! When word gets out that you have a sanctuary for ducks...word gets out. Now remember this was at my house, and yes I had a 1/2 acre and I did build a 800 gallon duck pond... it took on a life of its own and soon, I had grown out of the space. The other thing you learn rescuing ducks is that not a lot of zoning is correct for ducks as they are considered farm animals. Well, to bring you up to date, I am at a temporary location with my now 200 ducks and 14 geese, and we need to find a permanent home for the sanctuary, where I can live on the property and give these babies the life they deserve. I need your help in making this become a reality. I spend close to 4k a month on just basic food and supplies. This does not include any medical bills we incurred (try finding an inexpensive avian vet... but we did). I need your help in purchasing the property and building a proper sanctuary with enclosures and a large pond for everyone. I am a 501c3 non profit, however for the last 10 years, I have been using my own personal funds to support the sanctuary. We take in any abandoned or surrendered duck, no matter the circumstances, if it needs a forever home. We not only take in ducks that have been dumped, we also work with the Humane society as well as shelters from San Diego to Los Angeles. We are now the only southern California waterfowl sanctuary that gives them a permanent home. I have dedicated my life to this and now I am asking you to become a part of it to help save these amazing beings. So, whether it be $5 or $500, every penny goes to taking care of our feathered family and now to build a new permanent home. Thank you for your support ❤️ and kindness for all these wonderful babies. Howie Berkowitz.
