Please Help The Stay Cool Ice Cream Truck

Our names are Joezette and Casey Cowden and we have two kids that are 8 & 9 years oldand we are from Santa Cruz, Ca. On May 21st 2022 we recieved a devistating phone call that our Ice cream truck was in a terrible accident involving a new employee that we had hired and thought we can trust. We are now out of business and are raising money to get our business/ ice cream truck back out on the road asap.

This was a new business venture that my partner and I built from the ground up. It started as an idea back in June 1st 2020 and this business plan was put into action on Decemeber 1st 2020 when we bought our 1971 Ford ice cream truck that we had bought off of craigslist in Sacramento Ca. At that time the truck needed a full restoration job from the inside out and our goal was to launch our new business summer 2022 that we named The Stay Cool Ice Cream Truck. There was a lot of work ahead of us to meet this timeline along with establishing a cominsary which ended up being Golden State Ice cream in San Jose Ca. where we would get alots of our products and we signed a contract with Mariannes ice cream to be a wholesaler so we could serve there ice cream on board along with joining up with Sambazon for our tasty A'cai Bowls.

For the Ice cream truck itself We have personally put a lot of time and work into this truck to get it to where it needed to be for operating this business. We put a new stright 6 motor under the hood. Physically the body work on the exterior that was done on the truck took weeks of sanding and straightening out the body getting it where it needed to be and prept and ready for paint. We put all new tires and a new breaking system on the truck as well. We hired a painter to paint the exterior which turned out fantastic. We also tore out the entire interior and redid it all up to code that was required from the County of Santa Cruz to receive our business licensing that we have in Santa Cruz and Capitola along with the necour health permit.

We put all new freezers, counters, new front seats, flooring, interior paint, tv, cabinets, electrical and new seats as well for our two kids so they could come with us. Our kids were so excited to be involved with our new ice cream truck.

Unfortunately our new employee that we thought we could trust has been missing since the accident and has never returned any of our phone calls regaurding the accident. Highway patrol informed us that our new employee had been in an accident alone with no other cars involved due to the fact that she was not paying attention to the road due to the fact she was looking down in her purse for her keys and her phone not paying attention to the road ahead while driving and looking downward, by the time she had looked up it was to late, she then yanked the steering wheel hard to the left hitting the curb which ended up flipping the truck and rolling it onto its side and slid into a telephone pole totaling the truck. At the time of the accident our new employee gave an insurance card that was not valid or intended for the ice cream truck with That being said our insurance has declined and dropped coverage.

This go fund me will help us get a new truck and our business back up and running as soon as possible and bring back the smiles and joy that the truck brought well driving and serving Santa Cruz County. Due to this accident we have had to cancel 12 birthday parties/ events that we had on calendar for summer 2022 along with every friday night booked with Mid Town Fridays which would bring $300-$400 nights. This income that we had coming in for our family has been swept from underneath us and we are now stuck with a totaled truck with a ex employee nowwhere to be found.
