Please help Shay fund his Hero Arm

 

 

My name is Shay Dunster, I am 11 years old and live in Tredegar Gwent, South Wales. I live with my Mam Donna and my two older brothers.

 

I was born with no wrist or hand, and my Mam found out about this on her scan when she was pregnant with me. It's called amino band syndrome.

 

My favourite things to do are playing rugby and riding my bike. I also love gaming on my pc and PlayStation. I can do nearly all the things my friends do, but I struggle with a few things like putting on my socks, doing laces up and carrying things.

 

 

 

I also struggle with the stares off people and their comments when they see my missing hand, so I hide it a lot.

 

I have been bullied at school. A few children had said I could not play rugby because I only had one arm, but in a rugby festival, I scored 11 tries and got on TV on Good Morning Britain. It was very exciting, and I proved the bullies wrong.

 

 

 

A couple of years ago, I heard about the Hero Arm, and I wanted one. They look fantastic, and I thought having one would help me do things I struggle with. I also believe that having a bionic arm would give me so much confidence, and I would not have to hide my arm anymore.

 

 

 

I think it would look so cool, and when people stare, they would say ‘wow, that's amazing’ instead of horrible comments to me.

 

I think having a Hero Arm will really change my life and help me do things easier, like riding my bike, doing laces and carrying things. I would be so much happier.
