Please Help Abbie And Ryan Stay Afloat!

My name is Abbie, and my husband Ryan and I are experiencing a temporary financial crisis. Last June I went on sick leave after being diagnosed with ME/CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) earlier in the year. A few months later I was diagnosed with another chronic health condition called PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) the combination of which makes working completely impossible for me at the moment. On any given day, I can be experiencing debilitating fatigue and brain fog, depression and anxiety and I generally struggle to function.

When we were a two income family, we were living paycheck to paycheck. We could pay our bills, take care of our two cats but that was about it. We have now completely lost one of those incomes. Over the last few months I have tried to get help from The BC Ministry Of Social Development And Poverty Reduction, Service Canada, Disability Advocacy organizations, TAPS (Together Against Poverty) our local crisis team and an urgent care doctor. I have looked into applying for Provincial Disability, Income Assistance and Regular EI but I don't meet the criteria.

Earlier this year, I spent two months applying for CPP-Disability. I spoke to a lady from Service Canada last week and was told that I don't qualify for dire need (even though we can't pay our bills this month) and that the processing time for my application will be 4 months to 1 year. The good news is that she said my application looked really strong. So help is coming, but in the meantime Ryan and I are in a financial emergency.

We had an appointment with the bank last week to ask for help, and because I have no income and Ryan's job is classed as "Seasonal" they can't support us. We have tried every avenue we can think of that could save the day, but no help is coming.

So I have created this fundraiser in the hope of getting support from our community. We are asking for $16,000 so we can pay our rent until the end of the year, I am hoping to be approved for my disability benefit by then.
