Please Help Ollie Fight FIP

Our baby boy Ollie was admitted to the hospital on Sunday, August 16th having not eaten for 24 hours; and showing alarming signs of lethargy, discomfort, and all-out despondence. The days that have followed have been laden with veterinary care that runs the gamut: x-rays, ultrasounds, blood tests, IVs, etc. We are grateful to the team that has been observing and caring for Ollie – their efforts are keeping him comfortable, alert, and as stable as possible; but we are far from resolution and the extended stay coupled with assorted procedures is adding up swiftly. The signs he is exhibiting, along with lab tests that are ruling out other possibilities, are pointing us to a lethal disease called Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). There is a treatment, however, that we are all determined to try as it has been shown as successful, but it is not covered by insurance and is expensive.

Ollie has always been a bright, energetic, playful little fellow; but his demeanor on Sunday was as if a switch had been flipped. He is a mere 18 months old, and so deserving of the long and vibrant life he is meant to lead. Not a day goes by that we don’t acknowledge how blessed we are to have him in our lives; and we cannot bear the thought of losing him – his life has barely begun, and we desperately want to see him through many years to come.

Anyone who knows us has seen how passionate we are about this little guy. And anyone who has met Ollie knows why. He brings light and love to each and every day, and the notion of his life extinguishing so suddenly is absolutely shattering.
