MY MOM HAS LOST HER BATTLE WITH ALS

Donation protected
You never think it will happen to you, but life sneaks up and the child must become the caretaker for the parent. Being an only child of a single parent, this responsibility falls to me.
After numerous doctors appointments, x-ray after x-ray, and too much poking and prodding, we now know that my mom has ALS. This is a progressive disease that has come on quite quickly, just over the past couple of years.
My mom is no longer able to walk on her own and is slowly losing strength in her hands. This is especially devastating for her because as you all know, my mom was an award winning art teacher as well as being an amazing artist herself.
She put her everything into teaching kids, by taking them into the fantastic world of art, music, writing and more.
My mom taught at Lloyd Street Elementary school for 30 years and faced every day with wonder and excitement. From live animals in her classroom to artwork and murals in and outside the school.
Starting with a short meditation every day, my mom truly taught from the heart and soul.
Speaking of the heart, mine is breaking watching her deteriorate right in front of my eyes and there is nothing I can do about it.
The time has come to put her somewhere with the kind of help that I can't give her, so I am appealing to everyone that knows, or has been personally touched by my mom (or Ms. Gaborsky as many of you know her).
After doing an overwhelming amount of research, and seeing some scary places, there are only a couple of facilities that I would feel comfortable putting my mom in.
Her diseases is rapidly getting worse, so where she ends up will only become more expensive with the more aide that's needed.
On a retired art teacher's income, we cannot do this ourselves. WE NEED YOUR HELP.
My mom is a proud woman, and this Gofundme wasn't the easies thing for her to reconcile with, but deep down, she knows that it's the only way. I need to know that she will be settled and secure for my own piece of mind and THAT is priceless.
If we are able to reach our goal, your donations will help with almost two years of assisted living
